About Us

Qualifications and Experience

​InTandem Legal Services has been established by legal practitioners, Jill Raby and Susan Hamilton-Green who have extensive experience in the Family Law and Alternate Dispute Resolution. They work in conjunction with other experienced dispute resolution practitioners from legal and social science backgrounds and collaborate with other experienced professionals where appropriate.

 ​Jill Raby is a solicitor/mediator in private practice. She is accredited by the Law Institute as a Specialist in Family Law.

Jill was first admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1982.  Since 1990 she has been accredited by the Law Institute as a Family Law Specialist, is a FDRP and holds a Vocational Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution.

In 1993 she joined the Family Court as a Deputy Registrar specializing in mediation and conciliation, became an approved Court Mediator in 1995 and was involved in the development and delivery of training in mediation.  Jill was Senior Deputy Registrar at the Melbourne Registry of the Family Court from 1994 until she was appointed as a SES Registrar in 1999 conducting duty and short hearing lists in the Melbourne and Dandenong Registries of the Family Court of Australia.

Since 2003 Jill has been running her own business providing services to a range of organizations and the profession. Her work includes chairing VLAs Family Dispute Resolution Service conferences. She holds a Graduate Vocational Diploma in Family Mediation, is a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and is also accredited under the National Mediator Accreditation Scheme. She has successfully completed Mediation Training for Japanese-Australian Disputes qualifying her to mediate cross-border family disputes including international child abduction, access and custody cases. She is a trained arbitrator.

Jill also currently appointed as an External Decision Maker for the Child Support Agency where she determines applications for review of child support assessments.

Jill works closely with lawyers and professionals from other disciplines such as Psychology and Social Work to promote better working relationships across the Family Law system.

Susan Hamilton-Green

 Susan was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1984 and since then she has practised exclusively in Family Law. Her work has involved all aspects of family law, including financial and parenting matters, and a large part of her current practice involves appointments as an Independent Children's Lawyer. She has been accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a specialist in Family Law since 1990.

Susan has been a practicing mediator since gaining an internship with Relationships Australia in 1992.  In 1994 she completed her Graduate Diploma in Judicial Administration and Alternate Dispute Resolution, and in 2008 a Graduate Vocational Diploma in Family Mediation. Susan is a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, accredited under the National Mediator Accreditation Scheme, and since 1993 as a specialist in mediation by the Law Institute of Victoria. She is also a trained Arbitrator with AIFLAM and a trained Conflict Coach by Cinergy Conflict Management Services and Resolutions Institute.

Susan regularly provides mediation training and coaching to Victorian and interstate organisations including the College of Law and Bond University. She provides supervision for family dispute resolution practitioners, and since 2011 she has been an adjunct lecturer with the College of Law in their PLT, FDRP and Masters Family Law programmes.

In 2005 Susan established her own business, undertaking private mediations, conflict coaching and conferences for the Family Dispute Resolution Service (formerly RDM) operated by Victoria Legal Aid. She has a keen interest in facilitating outcomes to suit the individual needs of families, and is currently exploring additional tools to assist in this task including recent developments in the digital world. She has well established connections with many professionals from associated areas and supports a multidisciplinary approach to family disputes. She is the principal of Creative Family Law Solutions.

Susan's efforts in the practice and promotion of Family Dispute Resolution were recognised this year when she was awarded Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner of the year at the Australian ADR Awards.
